It was Amazon who released the first ever fully fledged e-book reader – The Amazon Kindle. But its sales soon dropped as the “tablets” invaded its territory. Amazon furious with their has released the retort. For just $199 the Amazon Kindle Fire is surely worth every penny. It’s not exactly iPad slayer material but it has got what it takes to be in the core of the realm of tablets which is shared only by a handful. With Amazon giving such an impressive unveiling ,with Amazon’s Jeff Bezos hitting all the right notes in true Jobsian fashion, telling the tale of a product vision in the perfect tone, one does have high expectation for the Amazon Fire. But instead, this gadget is far from being called flawless. It is a decent product — a product that literally does not always know which way is up.

First let us get on with the Pros. The  Kindle Fire is a tablet with a high degree of simplicity. From the moment you turn it on to the first time you download music from your own personal cloud to the minute you start watching a movie on the device and then continue watching on your HDTV — without connecting the device to the TV — you’re hooked. This is a smart tablet with a fully thought-out ecosystem. It is — and I don’t think Amazon would disagree with this — very Apple-like in its insistence in keeping you within the Amazon playground. And to top all this it is priced at a mere $199

The Kindle Fire coupled with an Amazon account or,better yet, a Prime account, opens a world of content possibilities on the 7-inch-screen device. Amazon similar to Apple has your credit card on file. It’s tied to your Amazon user name and account. It’s also tied to the original Kindle 2. Signing in to connect is a piece of cake. This Fire calls itself “Lance’s 3rd Kindle”. Each device syncs whatever content it can. In the case of the multimedia-friendly Fire, that’s books, magazines, music, apps and more.
So with all this potential and the extremely low price .. Can Amazon Kindle Fire burn the iPad? Can it bring it down from the top of the Mount Tabulous? I personally don’t think its possible
