The title of the article says it all. An average laptop costs easily between $500 to $800 but few days back India HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has unveiled an affordable laptop for student community.
This will be the world’s cheapest fully functional laptop with a price tag of $35 only. So it will be much cheaper than any of the currently existing notebooks in Indian market.
The fully functional prototype comes with touch screen capability and basic features. It also comes with PDF reader and video conferencing facility and you can easily upgrade it.
The laptop will run on Linux operating system and expected to be commercially launched for higher education institutions by 2011.
I think it’s a big boost for Indian student community and it will bring a technical revolution in the student community.
The complete specification is still not available but the price tag will make it a huge success in Indian student community.
