Everything is becoming touch oriented nowadays… Right from a music player till your 007 styled gadgets touch is the latest and most desired mode of interaction. This wasn’t the case half a decade back when resistive touch screens where replacing the keyboards is mobiles, but as they change is the only constant Apple brought in the revolutionizing capacitive touch screen which changed the whole scenario. Now every gadget released wants to be touch oriented and this craze has hit the keyboards too. Many keyboard companies have provided this feature for a part of the keyboard ( the media controls in the Razer Lycosa) but never has it been incorporated for the whole keyboard… actually never has it been needed.
The Keyboard “ABC” , created by designer Iaroslav Neliubov, features a touchscreen surface which replaces the hardkeys of the keyboard. These touch bottons can be configured to any language with customized keys. The keyboard can be customised to various needs and likes. You can change between cool black or the professional white. You can also go for a crazy combination of your own. What adds to the functionality is that this keyboard can be used as a gaming keypad or a typewriter imitating the mobile input method with a preview of the text on the keyboard. The keyboard’s most appealing feature is its ability to change color with just the touch of a finger
As if all these features aren’t enough it also has a built-in CD/DVD drive, SD memory card reader and USB port to make storing files easier. The list doesn’t end yet,the keyboard hides in its corners built-in sound dynamics.Due to the high customizable nature of the “touchboard”, it should make typing a lot easier for left handers. The high glossy glam doll finish with the slender simplistic design will surely boost the overall appeal of your PC.
All said and done.. could this be the future of input devices? It wouldn’t be long before a touch pad is incorporated into the keyboard making it the ultimate input device. But the real question is will is give you the same awesome feel of typing? Obviously not but that did not stop touch pads invading our mobiles did it! The idea might seem absurd to some but this is so cool to not let it in.
