Smartphone iPhone 4S breaks all records
Everyone was anticipating huge sales for smartphone iPhone 4S, but nothing of the sort that has transpired. The sales of smartphone iPhone 4S in 3 days after it was launched on 14th of October, has crossed 4 million mark. Even Steve Jobs would have been proud of the feat today. This is a sales figure unheard of in the industry, and breaks the record of iPhone4 by almost 100% in the first three days. Apple sold just 1.7million iPhone 4 in the first three days last year. More than the record breaking reception of iPhone 4s, it is 20 million downloads of Apple’s latest OS, iOS 5, and more than 20 million consumers signing up for space in iCloud within first 5 days of its release, is what is so very exciting for the company as it prepares to release it 3rd quarter results. All iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 owners can now benefit from iOS 5. The number of people downloading 778 MB iOS 5 in UK created a situation of internet jam.
The smartphone iPhone 4S has been released in a handful of countries at present (US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan, UK, and France to be precise) though it is being planned to be released in22 more countries on October 28 and more than 70 countries by the end of this year. It is not hard to imagine the cumulative sales of smartphone iPhone 4S in first 100 days of its launch.
It is true that the smartphone, wherever it is being sold, is going to add to the kitty of Apple, the very fact that different carriers are selling it on their platforms is making them happy to be having an iPhone among their stable of phones. It is for the first time that sales have been divided among AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. On each of earlier launches, AT&T was the sole carrier selling the smartphone made by Apple. The sale figures of each network will be scrutinized by Apple no doubt for future launches.
